Objectives of Central Milton Keynes Town Council

The CMK Town Council has recently reviewed the priorities that it is pursuing and monitoring on behalf of the residents of Central Milton Keynes.

These are:-

    Station

Station

    Station

To pursue ways in which parish can be made safer for residents

we have regular updates on policing issues and are represented on the Neighbourhood Action Group.

To improve communications with residents

we will continue to identify new ways in which we can communicate with our residents-through noticeboards, website and via our work with MKCCM.

To pursue infrastructure/ maintenance issues

we take up issues relating to the maintenance of the parish. We receive regular updates from Environmental Health and ensure that residents’ concerns are reflected and pursued, for example, that the rat problem is addressed.

To ensure the boundaries of this council are fair and equitable

we will continue to press for the boundary to incorporate that of the Campbell Park grid square, which is in common with all generally accepted definitions of CMK throughout Milton Keynes Council.

To lobby for residents’ parking

we have input into all parking reviews, putting the view of the residents, which is often absent from these considerations.

To input into all matters relating to how the city centre is developed

we consider all planning applications and make submissions where appropriate and have input into various bodies tasked with the development of the city centre. In particular we have been pursuing planning clarification with regard to aparthotels, which we feel have a negative impact on neighbouring properties, and to reduce the infiltration of barrows within the centre:mk, which many residents and shoppers alike feel impinges on the shopping experience.

To build a new community centre

we are lobbying for the construction of a new community centre that will improve on the current facilities available to residents. This will be by utilising section 106 monies that should rightfully be available to this council.

To contribute to the debate on the night time economy

we continue to champion the resident in many forums where the late night economy has an impact, including challenging requests for new alcohol licenses where the interests of the residents may be affected.
