Boundary Review

We are now in the first stages of the new consultation process to determine whether the Campbell Park grid square should be absorbed within the CMK Town Council. All the logic points to this being the sensible option for residents of Campbell Park, but we need your voice to speak up in favour. Contact MK Council to express your views.

At a meeting of the parish boundaries working group the proposal to merge the CMK Town Council into Campbell Park parish council was rejected in favour of a proposal that the Campbell Park area of that parish fall within the parish area of the CMK Town Council. This decision has yet to be ratified at Full Council, but clearly this council welcomes the change of view, informed as it was by the large number of residents who petitioned for the council to remain independent and by residents of Campbell Heights who spoke in favour of the retention of CMK Town Council and the integration of Campbell Park residents into the parish.

There is some way to go yet,  as any integration of the additional residential area will not take place until the local council elections in 2012.
However, the Town Council is grateful for the support provided in its efforts to remain the independent voice of residents of CMK.

May 2010-The outcome of the parish boundary review is yet to be determined, with the Council stating that there is to be a further meeting of the review board prior to any recommendations going to full council. it is clear that Campbell Park parish council is not prepared to accept the conclusions reached by the revew group and this could cause further delays in the resolution of this matter.

August 2010-We have now heard that the final meeting of the Parish Boundary Reveiw Group is due to take place on 15 September, following which the outcomes will be taken to Cabinet. It is heartening to note that a comment in the pack for cosnideration states that the' CMK proposals reflect a common understanding on CMK'. This is the case that we have been making since this process began.

September 2010-We are disappointed to learn that any 'contentious' issues relating to boundaries are to be avoided by MK Council. They have decided to shelve all the work that this council has done over the past years to establish its right to the Campbell Park grid square, kicking the ball into the long grass until at least 2016. This council is one of a number who feel that the actions of MKCouncil are at least undemocratic, and we will pursue the matter further.

We note that a new boundary review will take place next year involving CMK, Campbell Park and Willen parishes only. We are pleased that common sense eventually prevailed with regard to the terms of reference for the review.
